Asunción. AFP. Una fiscal del ambiente ordenó hoy el decomiso de 16 animales de la selva, nueve tigres y siete leones, abandonados en Paraguay por un circo argentino, mientras responsables de una ONG comenzaron una campaña para comprarlos y conservarlos en el zoológico de Asunción.
"Estos animales no se van a quedar en Paraguay. Van a volver a su hábitat", dijo en forma tajante a la AFP la fiscal del ambiente Bernarda Alvarez al justificar el decomiso.
Sin embargo, Brigitte Fuzellier, responsable de la ONG Organización Internacional Pro Inversión, Comercio y Medio Ambiente, dijo haber acordado con el intendente (alcalde) de Asunción la construcción de unas jaulas provisorias en el zoológico antes de edificar las definitivas para alojar a los felinos.
"Vamos a comenzar una campaña ciudadana de recolección de fondos porque la comuna de Asunción no tiene un presupuesto asignado para esta emergencia", explicó en declaraciones a la AFP.
Fuzellier sostuvo que los propietarios -que ya viajaron con su circo "Osvaldo Terry" para unas presentaciones en Punta del Este (Uruguay)- "piden 25.000 dólares por los gastos" que demandaron los animales a la compañía de diversiones en los últimos seis meses.
La fiscal replicó diciendo que la responsable de la ONG "puede ser una persona de buena voluntad, no le conozco, pero ya le advertí que esos animales no se pueden comprar.
El Paraguay puede ser sancionado internacionalmente. Esos animales deben reintegrarse a su habitat", subrayó con firmeza.
La representante del ministerio público manifestó que los felinos corren riesgo de morir en cualquier momento por el estrés, pese a los cuidados y la alimentación que les proporciona la ONG en coordinación con la Municipalidad.
Los animales fueron a parar al zoológico de Asunción en agosto pasado, luego de una intervención fiscal en la frontera tras denuncias de haber quedado varados por falta de documentación para ingresar a Argentina.
"Los propietarios ya debieron ser imputados por irregularidades en las documentaciones", dijo la fiscal a la AFP.
